We may think of thanksgiving as nothing more than saying “Thank you,” yet real gratitude is so much richer. It reflects the presence of God at work within us, helping us appreciate every season and situation as meaningful in His plan. May these prayers and Scriptures lead you into a deeper closeness with God this Thanksgiving.
~ A Prayer of Thanksgiving ~
Grumbling comes as naturally to me as weeds to a garden.
Help me, Lord, to replace grumbling with gratitude.
Help me say:
“Thank you, Lord, for the sun, moon, and stars; for the beauty of the earth, for the glory of the skies, for the love which from our birth over and around us lies.”
Help me say:
“Thank you, Lord, for the little blessings of the day — slippers for my feet, warm water from the tap, steaming coffee in the cup.”
Thank you for the greater blessings of life, for every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places through Christ!
Thank you for every good and perfect gift coming down from heaven.
And thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! Thank You for Jesus!
Lord, when I have too much to do or too much to bear, teach me to take things one by one, and each with thanksgiving, and each in Jesus’ Name.
Amen.

Ephesians 5:18–21
Father,
I am surrounded by Your blessings. I see them in my home. I see them in my community. I see them in my work and my purpose. Your blessings are all around me. For the goodness You’ve provided, I give You thanks. For the gift of life, I praise You. For the sunrise and new mercies, for breath and opportunity, I thank You. I even want to thank You for the difficulties. In everything, You teach me to thank You.
I’m kneeling in Your presence right now with the key of thanksgiving. I know that being thankful is evidence that Your Holy Spirit fills my life. First thing in the morning, I thank You. During a break, I praise You. At lunch, I give You thanks, and at dinner, I offer gratitude. In the evening before bed, I praise You. Throughout the day, Your praise will be on my lips. For You have been good to me.
I thank You in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

2 Chronicles 5:13, NIV
“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever …. Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness.”
Psalm 107:1, 8-9
“Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the Lord is the great God, and the great King above all gods.”
Psalm 95:2-3
“Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God; it is He who made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations.”
Psalm 100
“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.”
Psalm 139:14
